Earth Mover’s Distance-Based Tool for Rapid Screening of Cervical Cancer Using Cervigrams

Cervical cancer is a major global health concern, necessitating better screening and diagnosis. The prevalence of misconceptions adds to the challenge. Present methods are resource-intensive, time-consuming, and hindered by a shortage of pathologists. A new diagnostic tool is proposed, achieving 77% accuracy in identifying cervical normality/abnormality, with potential benefits including early detection in resource-constrained areas, reduced disease burden, cost savings, and improved health equity. This innovation offers hope in the fight against cervical cancer and promises to save lives worldwide.
