Quality and Patient Safety – Neuro Battle against Deep Vein Thrombosis

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a common and potentially fatal condition, particularly prevalent in neurosurgical cases. Incidence rates range from 7.9% to 29%, posing a significant risk to patients. A protocol called Neuro One Prophylaxis DVT Prophylaxis was developed to address this issue. However, insurance coverage for DVT prophylaxis remains limited, hindering effective treatment. Increased awareness and coverage are crucial to prevent DVT-related fatalities in neurosurgery.
